FIELD: forestry. SUBSTANCE: method involves processing cosmic photo of forestation, with ratio of digital matrix 1 (x,y) corresponding to 512x512 elements; calculating spatial spectrum of matrix electric signal by program two-dimensional Fourier-transfiguration method; presenting distribution of forestation tree crown diameters corresponding to spatial spectrum; dividing tree crown interval into five classes and calculating average height of trees of each class; with value of tree section areas and numbers of kinds in each class being presented in volume tables; calculating tree density of forestation, total number of trees in forestation, number of trees in each class and volume of stock in area under investigation. Method allows remote-control evaluation of stock of trees on vast areas to be provided. EFFECT: precise and reliable data by calculating additional proper value of matrix of picture associated with independent forest component. 5 dwg, 1 ex
