FIELD: forestry.

SUBSTANCE: method includes image acquisition of the woodlands as a digital matrix from |m×n| elements of dependence of intensity I(x,y) from space coordinates and calculation of Fourier spatial spectrum. It also includes finding medium frequency Fav and the diametre of crown of the average tree Dav = 1/Fav, definition of the average tree height Hav(Dav). It also includes the calculation of the area of leaf canopy relief Sc and identification of the completeness of the plantation C on the Nav spot and definition of the fixed ogival plantation spot, calculation of reserve V with the mass tables at the reference quantity Dav, C, Nav, Hav. Additionally, there is a filming of the area by the imaging spectrometre at the spectrum lines of chromaticity of the main tree breed crowns with the acquisition of two-dimensional images in each spectrum channel. The method also includes the completeness of the stand of trees (Ci) in each spectrum channel by the parametres of image matrix and certain breed reserves Vi = CiV; with the proportion received the formula of the plantation composition is made where Mi, σi - assembly average and standard deviation of the image matrix signal from the first spectrum channel, n - quantity of the spectrum channels (breeds).

EFFECT: method provides for the distant definition of the composition of plantation.
