FIELD: forestry, in particular, remote control method for estimation of forest on vast areas.
SUBSTANCE: method involves obtaining images of forests in the form of digital matrix representing dependence of luminance I(x,y) upon spatial coordinates; calculating spatial Furier spectrum for matrix; finding average frequency Fa, crown diameter Da=I/Fa of average-size tree; finding height and diameter class of average-size tree from mass tables; sequentially dividing matrix into fragments /2x2/ of adjacent pixels and subdividing rectangle along main diagonal line into two triangles; representing area Sclr of forest canopy layer relief in the form of mosaic of approximating triangles; finding area of each triangle and the total thereof from Heron formula; calculating completeness of plantation P from predetermined formula; calculating average number of trees Na on plot from predetermined formula for determining ogive attachment point of plantation under analysis; calculating forest range resources from mass tables as total of five Lorey diameter classes from predetermined formula.
EFFECT: increased precision and statistic stability of resulted calculation of forest range resources.
