FIELD: packing and wrapping. SUBSTANCE: continuous wrapping tape has printed marks applied to tape at equal intervals corresponding to circumference of largest packed article with some overlap. Strip-type glue coating for joining tape loops is provided at preset constant distance across longitudinal direction of wrapping tape before each printed mark. When wrapping the articles, after application of tape loop to packed article, tape is stopped for readout of printed mark by readout element. In stop position, glue coating is directly on closing mechanism. In process of arresting of wrapping tape free end, tape is fed backwards so as to embrace packed article with definite tension. Then tape loop is closed and edge is cut off. If outer circumference of packed article is smaller than circumference of article of largest dimensions, excess length left before glue strip after separation of tape loop is wrapped on packed article as inner layer with subsequent application of main wrapping tape. Invention provides economy of glue applied to wrapping tape when wrapping packed articles differing in height and reduced harmful action on ambient medium.
