FLUID-TIGHT BUTT JOINT Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: systems for sealing butts of joined parts. SUBSTANCE: fluid-tight butt includes first tubular tip and second tubular tip. Each tip has end with flow-through opening. First tip has just after its end axial extension with cross U-shaped groove having semicircular portion with radius R exceeding inner radius r of flow-through opening of first tip and two rectilinear portions arranged at both sides of semicircular portion. Said groove has first radially arranged wall at side of end of first tip and second radially arranged wall opposite to above mentioned first wall of cross groove. Second tip is provided with annular protrusion arranged in radial direction and having radial surface opposite to end of that tip. Protrusion may be inserted into groove at relative motion of two tips to be abutted for providing their fluid-tight joint. Annular sealing gasket is arranged on end of one tip; it is designed for providing fluid-tightness of joint and it extends in axial direction relative to said end and may engage with end surface of other tip. Second tip is provided with radially arranged bead that may be elastically bent in axial direction and has radially arranged surface opposite to end of second tip. Radial surface of elastic bead may rest upon second radial wall of groove when above mentioned protrusion is inserted in cross groove. One of two parts formed by means of first and second tips has axial extension arranged just near edge of flow-through opening of said part and other part has just near its flow-through opening axial recess into which axial extension of other part may be inserted in position corresponding to final joining of tips.
