SUBSTANCE: newly introduced in switching tube is metal partition that divides it into two cavities distinguished by gas composition but electrically interconnected; one compartment accommodates current switching electrodes (cathode and anode) and other one surrounded by metal screen mounts control electrode and serves to excite ionizing wave for organizing control action.
