FIELD: gas discharge and vacuum engineering; surge gaps for exchange lines or for switching electric circuits. SUBSTANCE: discharger has at least two main electrodes and insulating case which form vacuum- tight shell, as well as one breakdown initiator built on additional link disposed in vicinity of main spark gap and passed through depression or central bore in at least one of main electrodes. Breakdown initiator and resistance or reactance units form together electric circuit connected in parallel with main electrodes discharger. Clearance between link and main electrode does not exceed electrode distance. EFFECT: improved transient performance characteristics of discharger; enhanced operating reliability of equipment being protected. 5 cl, 2 dwg
