FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of anhydrous chromium trichloride containing limited amounts of impurities appropriate for synthesis of organochromium compounds, organic synthesis catalysts, powdered chromium, and chromium alloys. Elementary chromium interacts with mixture of chlorine with chlorohydrocarbon or chlorocarbon at weight ratio 1:(0.05-0.1), respectively, at 860-980 C. EFFECT: increased purity of product.
