METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING SKIN HEMANGIOMA IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves drawing neoplasm outline on transparent flexible material superimposed over the lesion area and determining reference points A and B being at maximum distance apart one from the other, measuring direct line length connecting the points. Skin temperature of the lesion area and child height are measured according to generally used method. The measurements are taken repeatedly and the so obtained data are subjected to analysis. Hemangioma state, its stabilization, growth or reduction are determined from ratio of linear increment of the child to that of the hemangioma being considered to be real hemangioma size characteristic. The real hemangioma size characteristic being equal to 10, proportional change of hemangioma size with child height is considered to be the case. The value being less than 10, active growth is considered to be the case and the hemangioma is characterized as growing one. The value being greater than 10, the neoplasm is found not to change its size or to become smaller, and the hemangioma is characterized as not growing one. EFFECT: changes detectable in due time; facilitated selection of treatment method; excluded X-ray application.
