FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: agglomerate consists of primary peanut-shaped particles 0.1 to 0.7 mcm in size combined into secondary agglomerated structure. It is prepared by performing continuous interaction of cobalt(II) chloride, nitrate, or sulfate with aqueous solution or suspension of alkali metal and/or ammonium carbonate and/or bicarbonate at 40-100 C (preferably 60-90 C) to form spherical basic cobalt carbonate. The latter is isolated, washed to remove neutral salts, treated with aqueous solution of alkali metal and/or ammonium hydroxide, and oxidized with oxidant to form cobalt(III) heterogenite, which is further reduced into metallic cobalt agglomerate. EFFECT: improved quality of cobalt products. 7 cl, 3 dwg, 3 tbl, 4 ex
