FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: anhydrous cerium chloride and lithium hydride are heated at 700-1000 C in inert atmosphere. Reaction mixture is discharged into cooled water and product is tried with alcohol. Heat treatment at 700-740 C gives cerium hydride composed of CeH2,73.
