FIELD: production of aluminium. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes heated cover, hopper and metering unit. Metering unit includes slit formed by means of two working plates made of wear- and heat-resistant materials and it is provided with mechanism for adjusting slit width. Metering unit also includes additional plates joined with working plates fitted in output mouth of hopper and supporting area of cover. Working and additional plates assembled in pairs form fixed and movable jaws of metering unit. Mechanism for adjusting slit width includes eccentric cross section shaft mechanically joined with support by means of metallic plate of movable jaw. Metering unit is arranged in upper portion of cover. Cover has opening under slit; cross section of said opening is increased from upwards to downwards. EFFECT: possibility for providing alumina feed to bath by gravity, enhanced efficiency and reliability, increased service life period of apparatus in mode of controlled consumption of alumina. 5 cl, 3 dwg
