FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises feeding initial aluminium chloride and reducing alkaline earth metal gas, performing metal-thermal reduction of aluminium, and its flushing. Said alkaline earth metal represents magnesium. Initial gases are fed into reactor in inert gas flow. Note here that reduction is performed at 900°C to 1150°C, gas phase total pressure of 0.01 to 5 atm and aluminium chloride-to-magnesium chloride ratio of 3.69:1. Aluminium and magnesium chloride are flushed from reactor in fused liquid state.
EFFECT: simplified production, possibility of automation, lower costs.
