FIELD: construction. SUBSTANCE: the thermoelectric mat has the lower heating and upper heat-insulating members interconnected with formation of a functional joint. The sections of the heating member projecting from the edges of the electric heater on the side of the electrodes have stiffening reinforcers, attached to which are the edges of the heat-insulating member with the aid of detachable joints by means of one or two automatically acting expansion pieces. The thermoelectric mat uses inorganic and organic materials possessing special properties in various combinations such as: heat resistance and corrosion resistance, flexibility at any ambient temperature, water-proofness, impenetrability for petroleum products and tar materials and absence of adhesion to the two latters, possessing a high thermal conductivity and heat- deflecting power, electroinsulating properties or electric conductivity. The above properties make it possible to attain a specific power of the thermoelectric mat equal to 2.0 to 4.0 kW/sq.m and increase its service life. In an electric heater made of carbon fabric there is a parallelism of threads of the warp and weft of its edges. The transverse edges of the electric heater parallel to the filler threads are thickened due to multilayerness, they are continuous over the entire length. Located on each thickened edge of the electric heater are steel electrodes separated into parts for flexibility and fixed at a definite spacing by reduction. The design of the electrodes ensures a reliable electric contact with the electric heater by a current- conducting flexible multi-wire busbar. To reduce the current load on the electric busbar and for a more uniform distribution of current among the sections of electrodes, a shunt of flexible electric wire is connected in parallel with the busbar. The dimensions of the thermoelectric mat are coordinated with the distance between the joints of the panels of materials of the roll roofing. Uniform temperature of the lower section of the heating element casing within 121 to 350 C is ensured. Replacement of any defective component of the thermoelectric mat is possible in situ due to the use of detachable joints. The thermoelectric mat may be used for warming up of roll and mastic roofings with a rough surface and in any season. EFFECT: enhanced safety of servicing due to the use of electric and heat insulation and carrying handles, use of low- voltage power source. 3 cl, 6 dwg, 1 tbl
