FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: hydroxylammonium salt is prepared by catalytically reducing nitrate ions in acid medium in the presence of activated catalyst which contains support particles with metallic particles comprising palladium and platinum. Relative concentrations of palladium and platinum in each metallic particle are substantially identical. Palladium to platinum ratio in each metallic particle varies from 7:3 to 9.9:0.1.
