METHOD OF MANUFACTURE OF UNMOLDED REFRACTORIES FROM CLINKERS CONTAINING FREE LIME, AND BINDER-PLASTICIZER FOR ITS EMBODIMENT Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: manufacture of unmolded refractories from clinkers containing CaO or mixture of CaO and MgO; applicable in units for steel melting and smelting of alloys and Precious metals. SUBSTANCE: method includes introduction into heated up to 115-120 C clinker with fraction composition usually used in unmolded refractories technology (100% fraction sizing up to 8 mm) and containing free lime, of hydrophobic binder. At the first stage, introduced into clinker is hydrophobic binder in form of tall oil in amount of 4-6% of clinker weight and mixed for 2-3 h with maintenance of clinker temperature. At the second stage, calcium hydroxide is introduced in amount of 11-14 % of clinker weight. Then, obtained mass is stirred at natural cooling to ambient temperature. Prior to use, introduced into ready mass is bender-plasticizer which includes components in the following amounts, wt.%: used motor oil 80-90; acrylic acid 5-10; and chrome phosphate 5-10. Binder-plasticizer amounts to 7-20 wt.% of whole mass and is mixed to ensure its uniform distribution.
