FIELD: radio engineering. SUBSTANCE: at mobile station method involves splitting input sequence into frames, each of which has k slots and each slot contains n characters, and searching in sequence of three stages using primary, secondary synchronization channels and common control physical channel. First stage involves slot synchronization using primary synchronization channel. Second stage involves frame synchronization and detection of number of code group of base station, which is detected upon slot synchronization stage. Search comprises m loops. Third stage involves detection of scrambling code, which is used by base station. This comprises q loops. Each stage also includes comparison to threshold value. Duration of each stage is not fixed. It is finished, when desired validity of results is reached. EFFECT: increased speed of search, increased probability of correct signal detection for given duration of device operations. 5 cl, 5 dwg
