FIELD: electrical engineering, arc and plasma-arc equipment. SUBSTANCE: method involves simultaneous power supply of any number of arcs from same power supply source, increasing idle voltage level at arc gaps of non-initiated arcs, while number of initiated arcs increases, unless maximal value for spark gap of last initiated arc or arc, which quenches upon arcing of other arcs. Then, method involves alteration of arcing of any arc under influence of external source to achieve lesser unidirectional arc alteration modes on other arcs. Source of electric power supply of single-phase arcs is designed as transformer, which has branched magnetic circuit, which side rods conform to equation and carry individual secondary windings, which supply respective arcs. Number of secondary windings corresponds to number of arcs to be supplied. Section of central rod is equal to sum of sections of all side rods. Shared primary winding is located on central rod. EFFECT: increased reliability of arc ignition, possibility to achieve power supply of arbitrary number of arcs from single power supply source. 2 cl, 6 dwg
