FIELD: welding technology; arc welding units. SUBSTANCE: single-phase transformer has two-rod magnetic circuit, primary winding and two secondary windings. Each winding is connected to its non- controllable rectifier. Outputs of both rectifiers are connected in parallel relative to arc gap. Primary and secondary windings are made in form of two sections connected in series. Sections of primary winding are placed on different rods. Secondary windings are also placed on different rods. First equihigh sections of primary winding and those of first secondary winding are located at equal distance from one yoke of magnetic circuit. Second equihigh sections - second section of primary winding and first section of secondary winding - are located at equal distance from other yoke. Smooth control of welding current is effected by means of movable magnetic shunt located in port of magnetic circuit between first sections of primary winding and first secondary winding and second section of primary winding first section of secondary winding. EFFECT: reduced mass and overall dimensions; extended range of smoothly controlled welding current at lower power requirements. 3 dwg
