SUBSTANCE: described is method of preparing 6(7)-R-1,5-dinitro-3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-3-azabicyclo [3.3.1]nonenes-6 of general formula I: wherein R¹ is CH₃ R² is H; R¹ is Cl; R² is H; R¹ is Br; R² is H R¹ is OCH₃; R² is H; original 1-R¹-2,4- and 1-R²-3,5 dinitrobenzenes are reduced with KBH₄ to corresponding 3,5-bis(acy-nitro)cyclohexene-1 dipotassium salts which are reacted with mixture of formaldehyde and 2-aminoethanol by Mannich reaction followed by acidification of reaction solution with acetic acid to pH of 6. Polyfunctionality of the resulting compounds offers possibilities of wide chemical modification of substituents and functional groups therein with view of improving properties thereof.
