FIELD: organic chemistry and chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a new method of synthesis of derivatives of 3-nitro- azobenzene of the formula (I) where R is n-NO2,o-NO2,m-NO2, p-Br, n-CH3,n-OCH3,n-N(CH3)2 that can be used as dyes. Method involves the reduction of m-dinitrobenzene by КВН4 at 0-3 C followed by addition of aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates to the reaction mixture. The yield of the end product is 73-89%. The proposed method ensures to introduce arylazo-group in electron-deficient aromatic systems, in part, nitroarenes.
