FIELD: high-voltage pulse engineering; switching devices for high-voltage storage capacitors. SUBSTANCE: method involves use of auxiliary spark gap whose operation in response to external ignition pulse causes current flow over following circuit: bank of storage capacitors - auxiliary spark gap - loading resistor - ground; in the process, voltage drop occurs across resistor with the result that control electrode of main spark gap is placed at rising potential. Spark gap operates and bank of storage capacitors is discharged through main spark gap over the lowest- resistance circuit. EFFECT: facilitated procedure and improved reliability of spark gap ignition. 1 dwg
