FIELD: high-voltage pulse engineering. SUBSTANCE: generator has grounded electrode forming short-circuited stepping line in the form of series-connected sections of uniform lines having distributed parameters of equal electrical length T0. High-voltage electrode placed inside first section of stepping line divides mentioned section into two uniform lines. Voltage supply is connected between high-voltage and grounded electrodes. Connected to stepping line output are series-connected load and pre-pulse spark gap. One end of additional uniform line whose electrical length equals T0 is inserted between high-voltage and grounded electrodes at point of connection of first and second sections of stepping line. Switching spark gap is connected to opposite end of additional line. Equations for calculating desired wave impedances of line sections are given in description of invention. EFFECT: increased output voltage in shaping pulses across matched resistive load and improved efficiency of square voltage pulse. 1 dwg
