FIELD: transport engineering; steering systems. SUBSTANCE: proposed electric drive has bridge-type single-phase transistor power converter with corresponding sensors and control unit to output terminals of which armature circuit of dc motor is connected. Electric motor has independent field winding. Thanks to it operation of electric motor under non-controlled dynamic braking conditions at turning of steering wheel by driver in case of failure of power converter transistor is precluded.
