FIELD: technology of preparing industrial sodium formate from aqueous solution of industrial chloral which is chloroform production waste. SUBSTANCE: process is carried out by splitting industrial chloral with sodium hydroxide. Said aqueous solution is evaporated to residual moisture content of 16.8-29.7 wt %, preferably at atmospheric pressure and temperature of 125-132 C. The evaporated pulp is crystallized, then dried and residual moisture is evaporated in current of air. EFFECT: greater efficiency of the process. 3 cl, 1 tbl
