FIELD: testing of structural materials. SUBSTANCE: procedure deals with determination of mechanical characteristics of structural materials and determination of hardness as well as for compression-tension testing. Gear for realization of procedure is fabricated in the form of double frame reverser. Lower frame carries additional plate to grip specimen during tension test. Spherical indenter which penetrates free surface of head of specimen is mounted in upper plate of lower frame. Procedure determining mechanical characteristics of structural materials involves tension of specimen and penetration of indentor into specimen in the course of single technological cycle. Act of penetration of indenter into surface identical to surface of real part is carried out till effort equal to effort achieved in process of tension test of specimen is obtained. EFFECT: simultaneous conducting of compression-tension tests and determination of hardness, determination of correlation between these two tests. 4 cl, 6 dwg, 1 tbl
