FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: strength properties of material are measured in three-positioned device after the sample is mounted. In the first position the surface of sample is prepared for testing by means of flat edge multipass grinding accomplished with upset. In the second position, scratching is carried out accompanied with simultaneous measurement of vertical and horizontal shifts of indenter as well as indentation power and deformation force tangent line. In the third position, bulk of material displaced from the burrow is measured by means of optical system. Device for measuring strength characteristics of material has case, column, mechanism for sample mounting and curing, indenter, deforming unit composed of indenter supply and removal mechanism from surface of sample, indenter intrusion mechanism, friction force measuring detectors, information processing unit, control unit, optical measurement system. Mechanism for preparing sample is introduced into the device additionally, which mechanisms made in form of vertical grinding plant. Deforming unit is made in form of two shallow cylinders - internal and external ones. Case is made in form of plate welded with bushing connected in perpendicular to it and rib. Bushing is mounted onto movable slacking onto column for shift around and along the column and for fixation in three positions due to locker.
