FIELD: physico-chemical mechanics dealing contact of materials at friction; estimation of state of surface layers of solid bodies and calculations of wear of friction parts of machines. SUBSTANCE: method consists in preliminary run-in of specimens under operating conditions or on respective friction machines under action of preset operating mode. Then, scratches are made on run-in surfaces of specimens by means of diamond-pointed pyramid along direction of texture, after which width of scratch and friction force are measured and amount of removed material and work of friction forces are calculated. EFFECT: possibility of estimation of material activation energy taking into account its actual state in pairs subjected to wear, as well as taking into account effect of anisotropy of mechanical properties at joint action of normal and tangential stresses acting on surfaces at friction. 3 dwg
