FIELD: computer engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed digital-to-analog converter has several output stages 46. Each stage 46 incorporates tristable buffer 54 that generates ON-signal, OFF-signal, or pulse-width modulated signal which is selected by multiplexer 52 controlled by chord decoder 50 responding to exponent bits in terms of input digital signal. When pulse-width modulated signal is chosen, its duty factor is controlled by pulse-width modulated signal decoder 48 responding to mantissa bits in terms of input digital signal. Additional output provides for pulse-width modulated signal with preset duty factor which may be used as reference signal to compensate for changes in operation of remaining part of converter circuit.
