COMBINED OSMOTIC AND VOLUME-FORMING PURGATIVE AGENTS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: purgative agent has 40-60 wt.% of lactitol and 40-60 wt.% of powder of hydrophilic mucilloid of psyllium that can be made as granules or tablets. Agent is prepared by stirring dried powder of mucilloid of psyllium and lactitol with addition of binding solution. Obtained wet granulated is dried and sieved for preparing particles of desirable size. Agent as tablets has directly pressing granulate containing lactitol, hydrophilic mycilloid of psyllium, strongly sweetening agent and tabletting lubricating material. Tablets are made by stirring directly pressing granulate with microcrystalline cellulose and tabletting lubricating agent followed by pressing to obtain tablets. Directly pressing granulate has powder of hydrophilic mucilloid of psyllium in the amount 40-60 wt.% and lactitol in the amount 40-60 wt.%. Invention provides correction of weak ability of plant psyllium showing purgative effect to pressing by its combination with sugar alcohol - lactitol. Lactitol has special osmotic purgative properties and psyllium has volume-forming purgative properties.
