FIELD: inorganic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: liquid waste in production of isobutylbenzene with content of aluminium trichloride from 200 to 300 g/dm3 is subjected for neutralization with metallic aluminium. Finely dispersed powder of aluminium alloy containing 99.1% of aluminium and 0.9% of titanium dioxide is used as metallic aluminium source. Neutralization is carried out at 80-90 C for 1.5-2 h at continuous mixture stirring and in the molar ratios of aluminium trichloride to aluminium = (0.666-1.333):(1.333-2.666) and (0.333-0.666):(1.666-3.333) for preparing mono- and bimolar solutions of basic aluminium chloride of the grade 2/3 and 5/6, respectively. Solution of basic aluminium chloride is subjected for thermic treatment at 80-90 C and dried basic aluminium chloride is obtained.
