SUBSTANCE: described is rail steel which comprises, wt. %: carbon, 0.65-0.85; manganese, 0.6-1.2; silicon, 0.25-0.45; aluminium, 0.005-0.012; calcium, 0.002-0.020; nitrogen, 0.006-0.015; vanadium, 0.01-0.07; strontium, 0.002-0.030; copper, 0.05-0.80; barium, 0.001-0.030; zirconium, 0.008-0.020; and iron, the balance. EFFECT: improved mechanical properties and greater impact strength of rail steel. 2 tbl
