FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out densitometric examination of proximal segment of the femur. Mineralization level is determined in its various zones and discriminant function is calculated from formula F=20.66X1-9.36X2+7.95X3-24.82X4-1.02X5+10.13X6- 76.21X7+82.88X8-3.25, where X describes the mineralization levels as X1 - in the whole femur head epiphysis, X2 - in the external part of epiphysis, X3 - in the internal part of epiphysis, X4 - in the femur neck, X5 - in Wards triangle, X6 - in the greater trochanter, X7 - in diaphysis, X8 - is the general mineralization level in the proximal segment of the femur. F value being less than 0, Legg-Kalve-Pertez disease is to be diagnosed. EFFECT: high accuracy of diagnosis method at the initial stage before radiologic diagnosis is set. 2 cl, 1 tbl
