FIELD: identification of objects. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in scanning of the bulk by radiation for determination of the preset property of each of the great number of components making up the bulk, and identification of the bulk as a bulk suspicious for the presence of explosive. Scanning is accomplished in a three-dimensional bulk for determination of the density of each volumetric component of the image, the volumetric components of the image, having similar densities are bound up and marked, for estimation of the continuity of the great number of volumetric components of the image, the bulk of each continuous area of volumetric components of image with similar densities is determined, the bulk of each such continuous area is compared with the first threshold value and each continuous area, whose bulk exceeds the first threshold value is identified as a suspicious area, the mass of each suspicious area is determined, the mass of each suspicious area is compared with the second threshold value, and each suspicious value is identified as an area potentially containing explosive.
