FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: hot and cold junctions of thermoelectric transducers are placed through reactor height and their signals showing temperature and differential temperature in vicinity of junctions are continuously recorded. In addition, time derivatives of electric signals arriving from hot and cold junctions are recorded and values of derivatives obtained are used to determine coefficient of heat transfer in vicinity of hot junction, mentioned value pointing to position of coolant in this region. Coolant level in vicinity of hot junction of thermoelectric transducer is recognized by threshold value of coefficient of heat transfer in this region which is not to exceed 600 M/sq. m C. EFFECT: improved confidence of data obtained and level monitoring speed. 9 cl, 3 dwg
