FIELD: hydraulic engineering. SUBSTANCE: water passageway is built in the form of pipes, pipelines, flumes, and other water conduits suffering temperature differences caused by climatic or process conditions. Longitudinal braces mounted along straight section of water conduit are fastened to the latter on its ends and connected to transversal braces uniformly arranged over its length and used to hold longitudinal braces in position relative to each other and to water conduit. Longitudinal braces for surface open water conduit are uniformly arranged over its external perimeter; those of underground open water conduits are placed inside the latter. Longitudinal braces are cooled more intensively than walls of open water conduit and they compress the latter eliminating tensile stresses built up in conduit walls during their cooling, thereby ensuring integrity and tightness of water passage.
