FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: engine crankshaft is cranked by separate power source, intake air is heated in flame heater and is fed to engine cylinders, and fuel delivery is started only at the moment of commencement of shaft cranking. Intake air is additionally heated by electric heater which is switched on before cranking the shaft to provide heating of air in engine intake when crankshaft is motionless. Electric heater is kept On for 1 to 5 minutes before commencement of engine cranking. EFFECT: reduced time taken for engine starting, increased service life of expensive storage batteries, decreased wear of parts, units and sets. 2 cl, 3 dwg
