FIELD: manufacture of engines; control of distributed injection internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: cylinder is selected and threshold magnitude of change in time of turn of crankshaft through preset angle relative to top dead center is set. Magnitude of time of turn of crankshaft in stroke of working cycle of selected cylinder through preset angle relative to top dead center is measured; test injection of reduced/increased amount of fuel for selected cylinder is performed in group injection mode. Reaction of engine as change in time of turn of crankshaft through preset angle relative to top dead center as compared with time corresponding to previous measurement is determined; if change in time of turn exceeds threshold magnitude, stroke in which test injection was made is working stroke of selected cylinder. EFFECT: possibility of determination of working stroke phase of four-stroke engine at absence of phase sensor signal. 3 cl, 7 dwg
