FIELD: processes and equipment for mechanically processing paper. SUBSTANCE: machine includes two embossing cylinders, each having respective groups of protrusions, and two pressure rolls. Each roll engages with respective embossing cylinder for separately embossing two layers of strip material in order to join said layers for making laminate strip material. Laminate strip material includes at least two layers with the same embossed pattern formed by large number of protrusions arranged according to repetitive geometry layout in two directions with formation of mutual angle different from zero. Method for embossing strip material comprises steps of embossing first layer for forming on it first group of protrusions; embossing second layer for forming on it second group of protrusions; joining said layers.
