FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: epoxides are prepared by process involving air oxygen oxidation of secondary alcohol followed by separation of ketone formed as by-product and epoxidation of resulting olefin in presence of titanium silicate catalyst and diluent, the latter being crude alcohol stream formed after removal of epoxide from epoxidation products, mixture. Water, organic acids, and glycols contained in crude alcohol stream do not reduce selectivity of reaction with regard to epoxides such as propylene oxide. EFFECT: simplified process. 18 cl, 1 dwg, 6 ex
