FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: catalytic composition for selective hydrogenation olefinic double bonds contains reaction product of (i) at least one monocyclopentadienyl complex of transition metal having general formula (R)M(R1)(R2)(R3), wherein M is selected from titanium, zirconium, and hafnium; R is anion including η5- cyclopentadienyl ring coordinated to M; R1,R2, and R3 are organic or inorganic anionic-nature groups linked to M through σ-bonds and (ii) at least one organomagnesium compound having general formula Mq(R4)n(R5)(2-n), wherein R4 and R5 are linear aliphatic groups with 1 to 20 carbon atoms and n is decimal number between 0.5 and 2.0.
