FIELD: aluminum production. SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at development of high- efficient process of machining of foot of self-baking anode of aluminum electrolyser which makes it feasible to ensure high quality of machining and to reduce energy consumption and labor input. Technique for machining of foot of self-baking anode of aluminum electrolyser includes machining with side mill installed on cathode housing while it moves along lateral axis of anode to level foot of anode. Speed of rotation of mill is 55-65 r p m and speed of movement of mill in process of milling of foot of anode is 2-5 m/min. Depth of machining of surface is set by movement of anode in vertical plane. Gear for machining of foot of self-baking anode of aluminum electrolyser has guides mounted for installation in brackets on cathode housing and carriage mounted in guides for movement along lateral axis of anode. Carriage carries side mill with rectangular cutters protruding from surface of mill and cylindrical reduction gear to reduce speed of rotation of mill.
