FIELD: thermal engineering; direct-cycle energy converters such as internal-combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: power plant designed for heat and power generation incorporates internal-combustion or Stirling engine 1 that produces useful work converted into electrical energy by means of electric generator 4 mounted on common engine-generator shaft. Engine 1 is cooled by water supplied to its jacket 3 from peripheral heat consumers 7 over return line 9. Heated coolant leaving cooling jacket 3 goes to exhaust-gas heat exchanger 5 wherein it is mixed up with water arriving from line 9 through connecting pipe 10; in the process, engine exhaust gases delivered over line 2 are additionally heated up to high temperature. Hot water is supplied from exhaust-gas heat exchanger 5 to peripheral heat consumers 7 through hot-water supply line 8 by means of circulating pump 6. Amount of water admitted to cooling jacket 3 and to heat exchanger 5 through connecting pipe 10 is regulated by means of control valves 11 and 12. EFFECT: improved efficiency, reduced size and mass of power plant. 1 dwg
