FIELD: production of cast iron and steel. SUBSTANCE: method comprises reducing and carbonizing finely dispersed iron- containing material, classifying finely dispersed iron-containing material into several varieties in accordance with particle size after preheating operation. Each variety is reduced and carburized separately in two steps. First step involves reduction reaction and second step involves reaction for further reduction and carburation. Method is carried out in fluidized bed reactor having fluidized bed separated into several sections with separating partitions. Some sections are intended for large- and other sections for finely dispersed iron-containing materials. Large finely dispersed iron-containing materials are reduced in one portion of reactor and fine iron-containing materials, in other portion.
