FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: combustion and expansion chamber is divided by valve with combustion chambers being united into common combustion chamber, and timing corresponds to that of two-stroke engine. Timing in internal combustion engine with axially arranged cylinders is provided by timing plate coupled with shaft. Compression can be provided by compressors connected additionally with transmission through power takeoff case and speed change mechanism controlled by brake pedal. Reduction of volume of common combustion chamber can be provided by changing standard shape of cylinders into elliptical shape. When contacting cylinders are used, additional space communicating with main cylinder is formed between cylinder and housing. For use in combination with free-piston engines design is proposed using rotary hydraulic and pneumatic motor with triangular rotor and hub motor consisting of axial and vane hydraulic motors. EFFECT: improved efficiency of piston and rotary engines, simplified design, enhanced performance characteristics and reduced fuel consumption. 5 cl, 22 dwg
