FIELD: measuring equipment, applicable in devices for monitoring the surface quality of wood materials, in particular, wallboards, as well as shaped articles. SUBSTANCE: device has a body with a measuring unit, having a feeler gauge, carriage, guide and base supports. The carriage and the base support are made for rolling motion on the surface of wood material. The body has a movable joint in one of the axes of rotation, and is provided with a base support position tracking mechanism. For determination of the surface quality of wood material (flat or shaped) the device is installed on the material surface. The body with the measuring unit feeler gauge is installed perpendicularly to the surface under test. The device is displaced over the surface under test by rolling motion of the disks and carriage. The exact information on the surface quality is transmitted from the feeler gauge to the measuring inductive transducer and further to the control unit. EFFECT: expanded potentialities of the device due to monitoring of the quality of surfaces of any dimensions, any shape and being in any geometric position, as well as due to continuous monitoring of the quality of surface and operative control of the quality in the process of manufacture of material, articles providing for compactness and simplicity of device servicing. 5 cl, 2 dwg
