FIELD: virology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the strain of avian influenza A virus. Proposed strain, in contrast to other strains with subtype of hemagglutinine H5, shows no pathogenicity for birds and humans. Adapted strain is obtained by passages of the parent virus A/mallard duck/Pennsylvania/10218/84 (H5N2) through white mice lungs. Obtained strain is designated for research of genetic bases of interspecies barrier overcoming, detection of phylogenetic and ecological association of viruses isolated for different times in different geographic regions. Claimed influenza virus damages mouse lung that are identified as viral bronchopneumonia that resembles by many traits with human viral bronchopneumonia. Strain of avian influenza A virus (H5N2) is stored in collection of laboratory of museum strains of Institute of virology RAMS-GKV at N 2340.
