FIELD: power engineering thermal and thermoelectric stations equipped with motor-driven feed pumps. SUBSTANCE: prior to starting each pumping unit, gate valves at their outlets are closed, electric motor of pump drive is switched on and gate valve fitted in pipe line running to deaerator is gradually opened. Pressure differential at pump is measured in real time and power consumed by electric motor is measured, after which power at pump shaft, coefficient of discharge and output of pumping plant are calculated. When calculated output of pumping plant is equal to preset magnitude, gate valve of common manifold is opened and gate fitted in line running to deaerator is closed; procedure is repeated for all feed pumps and common discharge is found. Pressure differential at similar diaphragm found in pipe line between common manifold and each boiler plant is measured and relative discharge is calculated through extracting the square root of pressure differential. Then sum of relative discharge is calculated and correction factor for each boiler plant is found and indirect discharge is calculated for each boiler plant. Permissible magnitude of output of each pumping unit are preset; in case of reduction of this magnitude, this pumping unit is stopped and standby pump is switched on, if required. EFFECT: enhanced reliability, durability and economical efficiency due to use of pumping units as flowmeters with no additional technical facilities. 3 dwg
