FIELD: shipbuilding; determination of ship's freeboard in conducting cargo handling jobs. SUBSTANCE: proposed device has cylindrical housing with weighting material held by hose and suspension fitted with measuring tape, rule with indicator coat and throttle member for smoothing-out fluctuations of flow which are located in housing. Fitted in upper portion of housing is blank provided with U-shaped through passage having outlet from cavity of housing to avoid penetration of water; secured on other end is horizontal motion limiter at spaced relation to housing; weighting material is provided with L-shaped through passage connected with throttle member in way of flow, thus excluding penetration of snow or ice from water surface and additionally dampening water level fluctuations. EFFECT: improved operating characteristics due to enhanced accuracy and reliability of measurements under various conditions; extended range of draft measuring units. 10 cl, 2 dwg
