FIELD: materials handling facilities; handling of long-cut materials. SUBSTANCE: jaws of screw clam shell are driven through screw tie-rods connected with jaws by articulated supports and spaced symmetrically relative to vertical symmetry plane of clamshell. Screw tie-rods are connected by split nuts installed for rotation and arranged in eyes resting on cantilever axles rigidly secured on crossmember. EFFECT: improved operating characteristics of clamshell, reduced height of clamshell. 2 dwg
